PENSACOLA, Fla. (November 25, 2017) – Hero and Princess night was an apt night for the Ice Flyers Saturday Night. The Ice Flyers heroically came back after being down 3-1 midway through the game to defeat the Huntsville Havoc 4-3 in an Overtime Shootout. The 3,023 strong at the Hangar saw Pensacola goalie Kent Patterson win his first game as an Ice Flyer despite allowing two first period goals. The crowd also saw Brian Morgan score the shootout winner by skating in quickly on Havoc goalie Mike DeLaVergne and firing a shot that ended the shootout, and gave Pensacola the win. Jessyko Bernard tied the game for Pensacola with a late third period goal. Stephen Hrehoriak and Anthony Calabrese also added goals for the Ice Flyers. Danny Smith (twice) and Christian Powers scored for Huntsville. The Ice Flyers outshot the Havoc 51-21.
Danny Smith started the scoring for Huntsville at 1:35 of the first period with a goal that was assisted by Nolan Kaiser. Christian Powers would add another goal for Huntsville at 16:05 in the first period on a goal that was assisted by Sy Nutkevitch. Pensacola would finally score at 6:42 of the second period on a Stephen Hrehoriak goal that came off of a rebound from a Brandon Parrone shot. Mark Esshaki also assisted on that goal. Huntsville would answer a little over a minute later with Danny Smith’s second goal of the game. Smith’s second goal was assisted by Andy Willigar and Sy Nutkevitch. Anthony Calabrese would score with 39 seconds left in the second period to cut Huntsville’s lead to 3-2 heading into the third period. Garrett Milan assisted on the goal. Jessyko Bernard ended the Ice Flyers deficit by tying the game at 12:08 in the third period on a goal that was assisted by Robert Lepine and Garrett Milan.
The game would go to Overtime and then a shootout. Christian Powers and Sy Nutkevitch scored in the shootout for the Havoc. Robert Lepine, Trever Hertz, and Brian Morgan scored in the shootout for Pensacola with Morgan’s goal being the game winner.
Garrett Milan increased his team point lead to 14 with two assists.
Jessyko Bernard and Stephen Hrehoriak are currently tied for team lead in goals with six apiece.
The Ice Flyers’ next game takes place this Friday, December 1 at the Pensacola Bay Center against Macon Mayhem. Puck drops at 7:05. It will be Teddy Bear Toss Night and Mascot Night. Kazoo (Blue Wahoos), Cat Country Mascots, Petey the Pirate (Pensacola State College), Rocky and Bullwinkle (Sam’s Fun City), South Paw and Miss Pawla (University of South Alabama) and West Florida High School Jaguar will all appear at the game. Mascots will race during an intermission. Additionally, fans can bring new stuffed teddy bears to toss on the ice after the first Ice Flyers goal. All bears will be collected and donated to Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart and other area local organizations.

PENSACOLA, FL. (March 17, 2018) - Number one Peoria Rivermen was back in Pensacola for the second game this weekend between the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Unlike last night’s hot start by the Ice Flyers, it took a full 20 minutes before a goal was scored by either team. After 65 minutes and a shootout, Pensacola ultimately fell to Peoria 2-1.
