Ice Flyers Win 5-1 in Bonar’s Return

PENSACOLA, Fla. (November 10, 2017) – The Ice Flyers defeated the Fayetteville Marksmen 5-1 at the Pensacola Bay Center Friday Night. The game saw Sean Bonar return to the Ice Flyers after being loaned to the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL. The Ice Flyers won on Friends and Family with a packed Hangar of over 4100 +. The packed Hanger went home happy after the Ice Flyers scored three first period goals for the second straight game.

 

Garrett Milan started the scoring at 4:05 of the first period. Jessyko Bernard added the assist. Brian Morgan would score at 16:18 on a goal that was assisted by Bernard and Mark Esshaki. Bernard and Esshaki would team up a minute later to assist on a goal by Garrett Milan. Shots were 16-16 after the first period.

 

The second period saw the end of Sean Bonar’s shutout streak. Cody Walsh scored for Fayetteville. The goal was assisted by Shane Bennett. Sean Bonar’s shutout streak ended at 156:18. The Ice Flyers though would show their usual third period dominance. Matt Johnson scored his goal for the Ice Flyers on a Powerplay goal that was assisted by Brian Morgan and Stephen Hrehoriak. Stephen Hrehoriak would add a goal of his own on a deflection off of a Tim Boyle shot. Bonar ended the night stopping 32 of 33 Marksmen shots.

 

Notes:

 

Sean Bonar played his first game against his former team. He won the SPHL MVP last year while playing for Fayetteville.

 

Stephen Hrehoriak’s point streak continues. He now has a point in all 6 games.

 

Jessyko Bernard extended his point streak to five games.

 

Matt Johnson scored his first goal while Tim Boyle scored his first point for the Ice Flyers with an assist on Stephen Hrehoriak’s goal.

 

The Ice Flyers square off against the Marksmen tomorrow night at 7:05. Gates open at 5:30 PM at the Pensacola Bay Center. Tomorrow night is Veterans Appreciation Night. Tickets are still available.
