PENSACOLA, Fla. (November 3, 2017) – Stephen Hrehoriak added two late 3rd period goals to seal a 4-2 Ice Flyers Victory over the Peoria Rivermen. The game saw the debuts of recent Ice Flyer additions Tommy Fiorentino, Tim Boyle, and Eli Lichtenwald. Making his debut in the net for the Ice Flyers in his season debut is goalie Greg Dodds. Dodds spent the first two games watching Sean Bonar earn shutouts. It was Dodds’ turn to start with Bonar currently with ECHL Atlanta. Dodds stopped 33 of 35 Rivermen shots.
The game was back and forth through the first two periods. The Rivermen scored first on a powerplay goal by Justin Greenberg at 11:01 of the 1st period. That goal was assisted by Jacob Barber and Brandon Rumble. The Ice Flyers tied the game at 12:41 of the 2nd period on a goal by Robert Lepine that was assisted by Nathan Bruyere and Jessyko Bernard.
The Ice Flyers though took over the 3rd period and subsequently the game. Phil Bushbacher gave the Ice Flyers the lead with his 1st goal of the season at 9:34. His goal was assisted by Lichtenwald and Parrone. Stephen Hrehoriak provided some cushion just over 2 minutes later with a goal at 8:24 that was assisted by Brian Morgan. Hrehoriak officially sealed the Ice Flyers win with just a little over a minute left in the 3rd period with his second goal of the night. Hrehoriak’s second goal was assisted by Trever Hertz and Kyle Haines. Alec Hagaman scored for Peoria with 8 seconds left to make the final score 4-2. Hagaman’s goal was assisted by Connor Gorman and Dave Pszenycyny.
The Ice Flyers were outshot 35-33. However, the Ice Flyers outshot Peoria 13-11 in the difference-making 3rd period.
The Ice Flyers are currently without Josh Cousineau (21 day Injury Reserve), T.J. Sarcona (30 day Injury Reserve), Ryan Ruikka (undisclosed team suspension) and Sean Bonar (loaned to ECHL Atlanta Gladiators).
The Ice Flyers announced the signing of goalie Kent Patterson just before the game. Patterson, a former 4th round pick of the Colorado Avalanche comes to the Ice Flyers after previous stops with the ECHL’s Rapid City Rush, Atlanta Gladiators, and Wichita Thunder.
