Ice Flyers Sign Rookie Forward Hrehoriak

PENSACOLA, Fla. (August 9, 2017) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers announced today that rookie Stephen Hrehoriak has signed for the 2017-18 season.

“We’re excited to have Stephen come back to the Ice Flyers this season after he finished last season with the team,” head coach Jeff Bes stated. “He had a solid four-year college career, enjoyed some success late last season and scored some big goals in the playoffs.”

The Canadian product joined the Ice Flyers following his senior season at NCAA Division I Mercyhurst University. In five regular season games, he scored 3 goals and added an assist. He also scored both game-winning goals in the first round of playoffs versus Fayetteville.

“It’s exciting to have the opportunity to return to the Ice Flyers,” Hrehoriak added. “Pensacola is a great place to play and a great community with unbelievable fans. I’m looking forward to getting started in October.”

While at Mercyhurst, he tallied 14 goals and added 12 assists and 51 penalty minutes. Prior to his college career, he played junior hockey in Canada for four seasons, scoring 89 goals and 85 assists for 174 points in 238 games.

Bes concluded, “Stephen has tremendous speed. I’m looking forward to working with him this winter and counting on him in key situations.”
