The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced defenseman Nathan Bruyere of the Pensacola Ice Flyers is the Bauer Player of the Week for February 6-12.
Bruyere scored four goals, including three on the power play, and added a pair of assists in leading the Ice Flyers to a three-game weekend sweep of the Peoria Rivermen.
On Friday, the Eagle Lake, ON native opened the scoring with a first-period power play goal and added an assist in Pensacola’s 6-3 win over Peoria. Bruyere recorded the first two-goal game of his professional career the following night, scoring a pair of power play goals just 27 seconds apart in the first period as the Ice Flyers defeated the Rivermen 5-3. Bruyere closed out the series with his fourth goal of the weekend in Pensacola’s 4-0 win on Sunday.
Now in his first professional season after sitting out 2015-2016 due to injury, Bruyere previously played two seasons at Canadian Interuniversity Sport member Lakehead University, where he recorded 21 points in 41 career games.
