The Pensacola Ice Flyers (10-12-5) used two first period goals and an empty netter in the third to down the Fayetteville FireAntz (14-11-1) by a score of 3-2 on Saturday night inside Crown Coliseum.
The Ice Flyers opened the scoring when Roger Tagoona scored his second goal of the season a mere 1:44 into the first period. After a scoreless second, the Antz were able to cut into the Ice Flyers’ lead when Joe Harcharik netted a power play goal just 2:39 into the third period. With only 55 seconds remaining in the third, Patrick Megannety scored an empty netter to make it 3-1 Ice Flyers. With Sean Bonar still on the bench for an extra attacker, Chase Nieuwendyk scored with 24 seconds remaining but it didn’t matter in the end.
