PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 10, 2018) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers traveled to Huntsville, Alabama for an early Saturday 3 p.m. puck drop. Following a tough 60 minutes of play with the Havoc, the Ice Flyers lost 4-5. Jessyko Bernard, Trever Hertz, Kyle Haines, and Josh Cousineau scored for the Ice Flyers. Christian Powers, Shawn Bates, Andy Willigar, and Stephen Hrehoriak scored for the Havoc. Returning goaltender Gordon Defiel made 33 saves for Pensacola. Mike DeLaVergne made 44 saves.
The Ice Flyers put pressure on the Havoc’s defense in the first, recording 14 shots and two goals as goaltender Gordon Defiel saved 6 shots of his own. Jessyko Bernard scored the first goal for the team at 9:36 with an assist from Charlie Adams. With two minutes remaining in the first, defenseman Christian Weidauer set up Captain Trever Hertz for the goal that gave the Ice Flyers a 2-0 lead heading into the second.
After zero penalties in the first, the second was a tough contested one. Havoc led the way scoring 3 goals in the first 8 minutes, two on power plays. Christian Powers and Andy Willigar scored the goals with assists by Andy Willigar and Alex Botten, and Sy Nutkevitch and Botten again. In between the power play goals, Havoc Shawn Bates scored with an assist from Justin Fox and Tommy Tsicos.
The 3rd went back and forth. 7 minutes left in the 3rd, defenseman Kyle Haines net a goal to tie up the game with an assist from Trever Hertz. 90 seconds later, Stephen Hrehoriak scores for the Havoc with assists from Derek Perl and Justin Fox on the power play goal. Ice Flyers Josh Cousineau scored with :53 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game 4-4 heading into overtime. Assists by Trever Hertz and Kyle Haines.
Overtime remained scoreless heading into the shootout. Ice Flyers went on the power play with 1:44 to go after a Havoc penalty, but could not come up with a goal.
After 3 missed shots by both teams, Stuart Stefan scored the first goal for the Havoc. The teams remained scoreless following that goal as the Pensacola Ice Flyers fall to the Huntsville Havoc 4-5.

Pensacola’s next home games will be February 16-18. The Ice Flyers play against the Mississippi RiverKings on February 16. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. It will be Pink in the Rink Night at The Hangar. The Ice Flyers will wear special jerseys for that game only. A portion of the proceeds from the post-game jersey auction will be donated to the Pensacola Breast Cancer Awareness Association.
Pensacola plays the RiverKings again on Saturday, February 17. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. It will be Military Appreciation Night. All Military members and their families will receive a 35% discount on Center Ice tickets at the Pensacola Bay Center box office with proof of ID. There will be a special player meet and greet post game for Military members and their families only.
