PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 3, 2018) – The Ice Flyers dominated the Evansville Thunderbolts for the second straight night at The Hangar to win 8-2 Saturday night. Shayne Morrissey scored twice, and Josh Cousineau, TJ Sarcona, Trever Hertz, Troy Vance and Garrett Milan also scored for the Ice Flyers. Lee Christensen and Dylan Clarke scored for the Thunderbolts. Brian Billett made 24 saves on 26 shots in the win for Pensacola. Jonah Imoo made 35 saves on 43 shots in the loss for Evansville.
Josh Cousineau gave Pensacola an early lead with his sixth goal of the season at 7:17 of the first period. Shayne Morrissey and Christian Weidauer assisted. It was the only goal in the first.
The Ice Flyers started the eventfuly second period by scoring two quick goals. TJ Sarcona scored his third goal of the season at 1:13 with an assist from Ken Neil. 32 seconds later, Shayne Morrissey scored his fourth goal of the season for Pensacola. Josh Cousineau and Trever Hertz assisted. Evansville got on the board at 5:57 of the second period with a goal from Lee Christensen, that was assisted by Nick D’Avolio. Trever Hertz quickly restored the three goal lead with his eleventh goal of the season. Hertz’s goal was shorthanded and unassisted. Jessyko Bernard, assisted by Garrett Milan, scored his eighteenth goal of the season at 13:37 of the second period. Shayne Morrissey scored his second goal of the game 11 seconds later. Trever Hertz and Patrick Harrison assisted. Dylan Clarke, assisted by Cory Melkert and Chase Nieuwendyk, scored a late power play goal in the second period for Evansville to bring the score to 6-2.
Troy Vance scored his second goal of the season at 5:10 of the third period. Ken Neil and TJ Sarcona assisted. Garrett Milan added an unassisted, shorthanded goal, his eighth of the season, at 15:35.
Shayne Morrissey had two goals and one assist for his second straight two goal night.
The Ice Flyers totaled 17 goals between the two back-to-back games.

Pensacola’s next home games will be February 16-18. The Ice Flyers play against the Mississippi RiverKings on February 16. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. It will be Pink in the Rink Night at The Hangar. The Ice Flyers will wear special jerseys for that game only. A portion of the proceeds from the post-game jersey auction will be donated to a cancer research center.
Pensacola plays the RiverKings again on Saturday, February 17. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. It will be Military Appreciation Night. All Military members and their families will receive a 35% discount on Center Ice tickets at the Pensacola Bay Center box office with proof of ID. There will be a special player meet and greet post game for Military members and their families only.
