Ice Flyers Add Veteran Forward Phil Bushbacher

PENSACOLA, Fla. (August 30, 2017) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers have announced today that Head Coach Jeff Bes has signed veteran forward Phil Bushbacher for the 2017-18 season.

“Phil is an experienced forward that can contribute in all areas of the ice,” said Bes. “He has had great success offensively in Europe, and is set to translate that success to the Ice Flyers.”

“Pensacola is a place that I have heard great things about from friends throughout pro hockey,” Bushbacher stated. “The fans, community and organization are all first class and combined with the championship tradition make it the place to be in the SPHL.”

The 6’2” 210-lb forward is a native of Glenview, Ill. and is entering his fifth professional season. He has spent the last two seasons in Europe, splitting time between the highest levels of the Austrian and Romanian hockey leagues. He tallied 83 goals and added 65 assists for 148 points in 113 games.

Prior to Europe, he spent time in the ECHL, CHL and the SPHL. Bushbacher played college hockey for Lake Forest College and Lawrence University, scoring 75 points in 106 games.

“Phil is a dedicated athlete both on and off the ice and I look forward to having him in a Ice Flyers jersey this season,” Bes commented.

Bushbacher concluded, “I am eager to make my way to the gulf coast and for that first puck drop in October as we begin our quest for another President’s Cup for the entire Pensacola community.”
