Ice Flyers Add Forwards Shayne Morrissey and Corbin Chapman

PENSACOLA, Fla. (September 8, 2017) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers have announced today that Head Coach Jeff Bes has signed rookie forwards Shayne Morrissey and Corbin Chapman for the 2017-18 season.

“Shayne is a very skilled hockey player who has produced at every level of hockey he has played at,” said Bes. “After a successful four years at Neumann University, we are excited for him to continue his development in Pensacola.”

Morrissey, the 5’9” 180-lb forward is a native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada and is entering his first professional season. For the past 4 seasons, Morrissey has played hockey in Pennsylvania at Neumann University where he scored 40 goals and added 68 assists for 108 points in 103 games.

Prior to attending college at Neumann University, he spent time in Canada playing junior hockey in the BCHL, CCHL, and SJHL tallying 158 points in 164 games.

Chapman is a 5’11” 190-lb forward from the city of Burnsville, Minnesota.  He is entering his first professional season after spending the last 4 seasons in Minnesota at Augsburg College. He netted 37 goals and added 48 assists for 85 points in 98 games.

Before Chapman attended Augsburg College, he played one season in the NAHL, playing for the Bismarck Bobcats and recording 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points in 51 games.

“Corbin is a very dedicated and focused young man with a strong work ethic. He is a player who leads by example, has a high compete level, and comes to play each and every night,” Bes commented.  “I am very excited about adding him to our roster.”
