PENSACOLA, Fla. (June 26, 2017) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers have announced today that Rod Aldoff will not be the Head Coach for the 2017-18 season.
Aldoff, who coached the Ice Flyers for three season, came back and took over the team mid-February after Kevin Hasselberg was relieved of his duties. He remains under contract with the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and is pursuing other opportunities.
“We thank Rod for finishing off last season behind the bench and leading us to the semifinals,” Ice Flyers owner Greg Harris stated. “We all wish him great success and the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
“It was a great honor to come back this past season and coach the Ice Flyers again,” Aldoff commented. “I wish Greg, the staff and the team the very best in the future.”
Harris had plans in case it did not work out for Aldoff to sign on for another season. “After I heard from Rod, I reached out to some potential coaches I know and we’ve had some great conversations,” Harris added. “Should everything fall into place, I’ll be looking to announce a new head coach next week.”
