Tom Thumb Game Recap - Ice Flyers vs. Columbus Cottonmouths - April 14th

Ice Flyers Fall to Cottonmouths 3-1 as Snakes win President's Cup

The Ice Flyers came into tonight's game needing a win to force game 3 tomorrow in Columbus but things didn't go their way as the Cottonmouths would win 3-1 in the Hangar to clinch the SPHL's President's Cup.

The Snakes would get on the board first when Jordan Braid put the puck behind Steve Christie 9:38 into the first. The Ice Flyers tied the game up when Ryan Salvis scooped up a loose puck deep in the Snakes' zone and netted the unassisted goal.

Greg Beller would give the Cottonmouths a 2-1 lead in the second period when he scored with just 5:04 left.

The Ice Flyers had quite a few chances in the third but Columbus' Ian Vigier stood tall in net. Steve Christie skated to the bench with 49 seconds left and Adam Kuhn hopped on the ice to try and get the tying goal but it just didn't happen and Columbus' John Sullivan grabbed a puck and scored an empty netter with just 28 seconds left in the game.

Christie played phenomenal and stopped 28 of the 30 shots the Snakes put on net.
